Product Recall

Product Recall Risk Mitigation

Preparing to handle a recall is a fundamental requirement for any manufacturer or food producer and therefore a comprehensive recall plan and effective recall team is essential.

At ECA, we understand that manufacturers and food producers will go to great lengths to ensure the quality of their products prior to distribution but sadly it is a fact of life that mistakes or contamination can affect a product and these issues can lead to the requirement to initiate a recall.

ECA are available to provide assistance to organisations who are seeking to improve upon their recall plans or to test their recall teams. The associates at ECA have expertise in developing recall plans and educating recall teams on the challenges that they could face. It should also be mentioned that if a manufacturer is looking to insure their products against a recall, they will need a workable plan. Subsequently, any investment in this area could lead to a reduction in insurance premiums in the future.

We are aware that many manufacturers and producers undertake a paper traceability exercise and then declare that they have practiced their recall procedure. This action can be misleading and give a false sense of security, ECA can develop a bespoke recall exercise that provides a true test of the recall team. For further information on any of these services, you can contact us by sending an email or calling the number below.

In addition to the above ECA now offer courses of instruction on:

  • Threat Assessment Critical Control Points (TACCP) and
  • Vulnerability Assessment Critical Control Points (VACCP) These are accredited courses delivered by our Food Safety Associates. We will happily provide quotations for the training free of charge.
